Volunteers Handbook
Guidelines Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) falls under the auspices of the Partners In Education Department. VIPS mission is to promote family involvement in the educational future of our children by:
Encouraging participation through volunteering. Each school has set a goal to have all parents involved in at least one volunteer activity during the course of the school year.
Making the school a center for the community.
Helping the school by raising funds to be used in the education of students.
The parents or legal guardians of a child enrolled in Texarkana Independent School District can become a VIPS member (there will be a School Support Fee of $2.00). VIPS have scheduled monthly meetings at each campus (at least five per school year).
District Committee
The purpose of the TISD VIPS District Committee is to encourage the involvement of community volunteers and business partners in the education of all Texarkana ISD students. The Director of Parent Involvement and Partners In Education is a member of the District General Committee. The director implements policy, organizes, administers and supervises all phases of the VIPS program. The director plans and directs training for TISD volunteers, campus contacts and Parent PIE Liaisons. The director serves as liaison for school personnel, local agencies, businesses, industries, and the community. District Meetings will be held on a different campus each month. Each campus will be responsible for providing two representatives to attend all district meetings for a total of 20 committee members.
