Morriss Elementary School Offers a Day of Fun and Fundraising for Students Parents Community
Texarkana, TX – Members of the Volunteers In Public Schools for the Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary School, 4826 University Park, are making Friday, October 19 a day of fun and fundraising by offering three unique opportunities for parents/guardians and the community to be involved.
During the course of the day students will participate in their annual Tiger Tracks Fitness Challenge. The “jog-a-thon” challenge will promote physical fitness and school spirit with each student gaining a sense of accomplishment by helping raise money for the school and, at the same time, becoming inspired to stay physically fit.
As part of the fitness challenge, parents/guardians and the community are not only encouraged to attend but to also be part of the Morriss Elementary Tunnel of Hope as each class makes their way to the track. Supporters will form a “tunnel” that students will walk through. As the students make their way to the event location, the tunnel of supporters will cheer, shake their hands, give high fives and applaud them as encouragement in their event and academic endeavors.
The final component to the day will be a “Chrysler Drive for the Kids” event that allows every licensed driver to earn $10 for Morriss Elementary by taking a brief test drive in Chrysler’s award winning minivan, the Town & Country. There’s no limit to the number of drives or Chrysler’s contribution to the event.
Classic Chrysler Dodge Jeep will provide the vehicles and dealership personnel have volunteered their time to help with the fundraiser. Participants can chat with the experts from Chrysler about all the new automotive technology and check out the safety, comfort and driving features of America’s favorite minimum.
