Black History Programs slated for Thursday at Dunbar Early Education Center & Westlawn Elementary

Texarkana, TX – In celebration of Black History Month, Dunbar Early Education Center and Westlawn Elementary School will be hosting programs on Thursday, February 20.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Westlawn Elementary School 5th Grade Class will host “Community Leaders of Character.” During the program, students will honor community leaders who exemplify the Tiger Traits they are asked to learn and show. Honored leaders include: Mary Bruce (honesty), Tony Favors (perseverance), Sherry & Billy Green (kindness), Rev. Paul Keener (respect), Dr. Jacqueline O’Donald (patience) and Michael Shepherd (responsibility).

At 6:00 p.m., Dunbar Early Education Center will host “We Have a Dream Like Dr. King,” which includes special songs and poetry readings from Pre-Kindergarten students. Additionally, students will be dressed in their “career of choice” outfits.
