Twenty-Six Consecutive Years Texas High School Student Council Claims District Sweepstakes Award

Texarkana, TX – For 26 consecutive years, the Texas High School Student Council has claimed rights to the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) District 19 Sweepstakes Award for their efforts on behalf of the school and the community.

Other awards received during the conference along with student chairperson names are: Outstanding DASH (Drug, Alcohol, Safety & Health) - Whitney Jaynes, Chair; Outstanding Pride & Patriotism – Katherine Doan, Marissa Johnston and Caroline Purtle, Chairs; Outstanding Energy and Environment – Gage Martin, Chair; Outstanding Community Service – Adam Graves, Riley Madlock and Madison Norton, Chairs; and, Outstanding Student Council – Ben Norton, President.

Additionally, Texas High School Student Council Sponsors – Susan Waldrep and Debbie Nicholas – were selected to serve as District Coordinators for 2014-2016.

Organized in 1937, The Texas Association of Student Councils is a non-profit organization serving high school and middle level student councils in Texas. Its purpose is to develop leadership abilities in students, promote democracy as a way of life and establish and uphold high standards for local councils.
