Texas Middle School Tiger Scientists Take Top Honors in Regional Fairs; Three Advance to Exxon Mobile Science & Engineering Fair
Texarkana, TX – Texas Middle School student scientists participated in the Region VIII Education Service Center Science Fair on February 18. Five were named winners in their respective category and moved forward to the East Texas Regional Science Fair in Kilgore, TX.
They are: Hollan Borowitz – 2nd Place (6th Grade Physical Science); Sarah Grace Boudreaux – 2nd Place (7th Grade Biological Science); Jillian Ross – 2nd Place (8th Grade Biological Science); Emily McMaster – 3rd Place (8th Grade Biological Science); and Ethan Yost – 3rd Grade (7th Grade Physical Science).
During the East Texas Regional Science Fair on February 28 in Kilgore, TX, three TMS student scientists placed in the Top Ten and will now advance to the Exxon Mobil Texas Science & Engineering Fair in San Antonio, TX on March 21-23.
State qualifiers are: Hollan Borowitz – 5th Place (Physical Science); Emily McMaster – 6th Place (Biological Science); and Hartley Spaulding – 10th Place (Biological Science).
Additionally, as part of the Water Association of Texas competition, Emily McMaster received Second Place and a prize of $200 while Hartley Spaulding received Honorable Mention with a prize of $50.
