TISD Board of Trustees Approve Agreement with Linden-Kildare CISD and Cancel Upcoming Trustee Election

Texarkana, TX – During their Tuesday, March 18, 2014 regular session, Texarkana Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a Child Nutrition agreement with Linden-Kildare CISD and cancelled the upcoming Trustee election for May.

The Child Nutrition agreement with Linden-Kildare CISD is just one of seven food service contracts that TISD has with area school districts. Through effective and efficient business controls, TISD manages the food service programs for each by offering a turn-key operation that includes personnel, purchasing, production and all collection data for Texas Department of Agriculture.

For an estimated 15 years, TISD has operated the programs for Bloomburg ISD, DeKalb ISD, Linden-Kildare CISD, Malta ISD, New Boston ISD and Redwater ISD. In 2011, TISD also entered into an agreement to direct the food service program for Texas A&M University – Texarkana. As part of the food service agreements, TISD not only handles the day-to-day operations for each campus within the school districts and university, they also supervise catering for any needed event within the institution.

In other business, Trustees approved the cancellation of the May 10, 2014 Trustee election due to all candidates being unopposed.

“We have a wonderful group serving as our Board of Trustees,” shared Paul Norton, Superintendent of Schools. “They provide creative and effective administrative leadership and are key to the success of TISD. With their 43 years of combined service to the District, TISD continues to be an innovative learning community that inspires, challenges and engages each student through a wide range of opportunities.”
