Texas Middle School Bands Earn Top Honors during Concert and Sight-Reading Competition
Texarkana, TX – Texas Middle School 7th and 8th Grade bands earned top honors during the Pleasant Grove Invitational Contest held on April 8.
The TMS 7th Grade band, under the direction of Jay Sutton, scored Superior ratings for Concert performance and earned Excellence ratings in Sight-Reading. Members include: Mario Aguilar, Jaylund Battle, Jaeden Betts, Mikenzie Blasé, Christopher Brown, Cordarius Coleman, Jordan Dickens, Ethan Evans, Jasmine Geyer, Chloe Griffin, Caitlyn Gummeson, Channen Harper, Jordan Hawkins, William Holt, Matthew Hudson, Kamryn Johnson, Tiffany Kendrick, Jalisa Leaks, Hadley Lewis, Jeramie Macaulay, Alisson Martinez, Mallari McClaran, Alexia Mendoza, Christian Moreno, Jeremy Morgan, John Morgan, Harmony Mothershed, Cameron Murry, Kaitlyn Patterson, Ashyki Paxton, MacKenzie Payne, Jhovany Perez, John Powell, Alicity Quick, Kendall Reid, Marquez Roach, Karmen Schwartz, Destiny Smith, Rebecca Stout, Greylyn Tidwell, Helen Tran, Kiara Turner, Shelbylynn Venable, Kaylor Ward, Indya Welch, Ednyia Wells.
The TMS 8th Grade band, under the direction of Kara Compton, earned Superior ratings for both Concert performance and Sight-Reading. Members are: Juan Torres Aguilar, Raven Baker, Braley Butler, Craig Crawford, Kaitlin Crossland, Vy Doan, Collin Duncan, Drew Egger, Joi Favors, Jasmine Franklin, Steven Geiger, Joseph Gordon, Arianna Griffith, Corbin Hamilton, Damien Hamilton, Nathaniel Harrison, Siarra Henderson, Connor Howell, Gabriel Lee, Jamia McKinney, Kaylee Medina, Gracie Morehead, Keenan Parker, Guillermo Pass, Eden Pitre, Keosha Pruitt, Matthew Rain, Marqualon Roach, Decorian Ross, Shelby Reed, Dylan Rowlee, Colin Runnels, Shaderrika Sanders, Darren Simington, Sarah Smith, Ryan Stahl, Katherine Stoeckl, Cymone Thomas, Tajh Turner, Chasity Walker, Jordan Webb, Jacob Weems, Mikaela Williams, Zachary Wooten, Lauryn Young.
Both bands will move forward to compete in the Region IV UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition in mid-April.
