Texas HighSteppers Take Top Honors in State Event including "Best of the Best" Cup
Texarkana, TX – During the American Dance/Drill Team Lone Star State Championship on February 21 in Austin, TX, the Texas High School HighSteppers earned top honors and were named “Best of the Best” Cup Winners, ranking Ninth Place Overall in a field of 35 teams.
Team Awards received were the “Best of the Best” Cup with a Ninth Place Overall finish, Military State Champions, First Runner-Up in Kick Routine and Second Place Runner-Up for State Champions in the Large Team Division. Also earned was the Sweepstakes Award for earning Division I ratings on all team routines, the coveted Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence for earning scores of 90 or above from all judges for all team routines and Second Place Academic Champions Award based on highest overall GPA in all Divisions.
Other Team Awards received were: Best Overall Presentation; Best Overall Precision; and Best Overall Technique.
The HighStepper Officers were named Second Place State Champions in Large Team Division and brought home the Sweepstakes Award, Gussie Nell Davis Award, Best Overall Precision and Best Overall Choreography.
For Ensemble performances, members earned the State Championship in Medium Ensemble as well as a Second Place Runner-Up finish for Medium Ensemble and a Third Place Runner-Up finish for Large Ensemble.
Individual member awards received included: Natalie Robinson – Solo Finalist – Second Runner-Up; Addison Rogers – Solo Finalist – Third Runner-Up; and Sarah Stark – Solo Finalist – Fourth Runner-Up.
