Texas High School Symphonic Band and Henderson State University Wind Ensemble Present Dual Concert on April 13
Texarkana, TX – Texas High School Symphonic Band, along with Henderson State University Wind Ensemble, will present a FREE concert on Monday, April 13. The event will be held in the Sullivan Performing Arts Center & John Thomas Theatre, 3941 Summerhill Road and begin at 7:00 p.m.
This unique duel concert opportunity between THS and HSU will bring together musical talents of all ages along with alumni from area high schools who are now band students at HSU.
Ashdown High School alumnus will be Alan Burns. Pleasant Grove High School Alumni include Ashley Dowdle, Harrison Moore and Meghan Morphis. Redwater High School alumna will be Emily Strand and alumni from Texas High School will be Jacob Dowdy, Kenneth Harris and Claire Howard.
The Henderson State University Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Carrie Pawelski. They will perform “Kirkpatrick Fanfare” by Andrew Boysen, Jr.; “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger; “Vientos y Tangos” by Michael Gandolfi; “Give Us This Day, mvt II” by David Maslanka and “His Honor” by Henry Fillmore.
Texas High School will perform “In Storm and Sunshine” by J. C. Heed; “First Suite in E-flat” by Gustav Holst; and “Khan” by Julie Giroux.
