TISD Pre-K Roundup Slated for May 2

Texarkana, TX – Texarkana Independent School District will hold their Pre-K Roundup on Thursday, May 2 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Texas Middle School Cafeteria, 2100 College Drive.

During the event, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to register their student for TISD campuses and Head Start - all in one location – and with food, fun and give-a-ways for all.

Additionally, TISD will provide FREE Shuttle Transportation to and from the event beginning at 4:30 p.m. from the following campuses: Dunbar Intermediate Center (2315 W. 10th Street), Highland Park Elementary (401 W. 25th Street), Nash Elementary (100 Burton), Spring Lake Park Elementary (4324 Ghio Fish Boulevard), Theron Jones Early Literacy Center (2600 W. 15th Street), Wake Village Elementary (400 Wildcat Drive) and Westlawn Elementary (410 Westlawn Drive).

To register your Pre-K student, the parent/guardian must live within the TISD attendance zone and the student must be four years of age by September 1, 2013. Three-year olds will be accepted on a space available basis and transfer students will be accepted, if space permits.

Pre-K students must meet at least one of the following criteria: Family income must fall within federal guidelines for Free & Reduced lunch programs (parents must show proof of income - tax return, pay stub or food stamp/TANF eligibility group number); Limited English Proficiency (testing will be done during the event, if time permits); Homeless (as defined by 42USCS Section 11302); child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; child who is or has even been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Parents and guardians are asked to bring to the roundup the student’s updated immunization record, official birth certificate, social security card, verification of residence (currently utility bill or lease agreement), verification of income level. If the parent/guardian is currently living with someone, that person will need to accompany them to the event with verification of their residence.

The TISD Kindergarten Roundup will be held separately on Thursday, May 9th from 3:30 - 6:00 p.m. at selected elementary school locations - Highland Park Elementary, Nash Elementary, Spring Lake Park Elementary, Theron Jones Early Literacy Center and Wake Village Elementary. During that time, parents/guardians and students can meet the teachers and tour the campuses.
