Brad Bailey Selected as TASSP Region VIII Outstanding High School Principal of the Year
Texarkana, TX – Brad Bailey, Texas High School, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as the Region VIII Outstanding Principal of the Year.
TASSP recognizes outstanding principals from the twenty Regional Education Service Centers throughout the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region VIII winner, Bailey is eligible to compete for the state title of the Texas Principal of the Year.
“I am pleased that TASSP Region VIII has selected Brad for this award,” said Paul Norton, Superintendent of Schools. He has done an incredible job of integrating the voice of teachers, students and the community into the decision-making process for Texas High School. Brad has also strengthened and grown academic and vocational programs, scholarship opportunities, Advanced Placement programming, Dual Credit hours as well as the number of students taking the SAT and ACT.
Bailey was named Principal of Texas High School in June 2011. He began his career in education in 1992 and has served within elementary and secondary schools in our area as a teacher, coach and administrator. Brad served as Principal for Paul Pewitt Elementary from 2005-2007. He joined TISD in 2007 as Assistant Principal of Texas High School and was named Associate Principal of THS in 2009.
Brad received his Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Arkansas – Monticello and holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University – Texarkana along with Principal and Superintendent Certifications.
He is a member and Assistant Regional Coordinator for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, serves on the Region VIII Education Service Center Principal Advisory Board and is a member of the Texas A&M University – Texarkana Alumni and the TAMU-T Advisory Committee. Brad also is a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Texarkana Oaklawn Rotary International Club, Leadership Texarkana and Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity.
He has been actively involved in the Texarkana community through his volunteer work with Komen Texarkana Race for the Cure, St. Jude’s Hospital and Rotary International.
Regional winners will be recognized during the Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner at the 2017 TASSP Summer Conference in Austin. If selected as a state winner by the TASSP Principals Image Committee, he will advance to compete for the NASSP Principal of the Year Award.
