Texas High School Commercial Photography Students Enjoy Success at ATPI Winter Conference

Texarkana, TX – Texas High School Commercial Photography students recently travelled to the University of Texas at Arlington to attend the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Winter Conference and Short Course. During the conference, students had the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars and to compete in on-site competitions with 128 on-site winners being selected.

Taking top awards were:
Picture Package Contest: Riley Madlock – 1st Place; Ndidi Duru – 2nd Place; Sabrina Larson – Honorable Mention.

School Portfolio: Team of Carlie Clem, Casey Hitchcock, Caroline Prieskorn & Haley Rushing – Honorable Mention.

Onsite Video: Team of Claire Norton, Mackenzie Phillips & Hailey Woods – 2nd Place.

Big 72 Pre-Conference Video Project: Team of Katie Black, Carlie Clem, Ndidi Duru, Keyerra Harfield, Casey Hitchcock, Sabrina Larson, Riley Madlock, Amy McCoy, Claire Norton, Mackenzie Phillips, Josh Rostek, Haley Rushing, Sydney Steed, Bailey Vaughan & Hailey Woods – 3rd Place.

The THS Commercial Photography program, lead by instructor Clint Smith, not only teaches students how to create photography, but also exposes them to multiple career paths through the photographic arts. Students enrolled in the program receive training in photojournalism, portraiture, digital imaging and commercial photography.

ATPI provides information and resources to teachers and students that work with photography in order to help the photography instructors of all disciplines work to achieve a higher quality of knowledge and teaching of photography.
