Texas High School Model UN Team Competes at Area Competition; Remington Cook Named Honorable Delegate

Texarkana, TX – Members of the Texas High School Model United Nations Team attended the 10th Annual Area Model UN competition on October 12, 2019 in Dallas, TX.

The four-person team represented Belgium and Chile in the General Assembly, World Health Organization and Security Council committees as they simulated real-world international issues on foreign intervention in civil wars, women’s health issues and Somali piracy.

Team members include: Remington Cook, Mathew Delk, Andrew Powell and Hanna Revalee.

Cook received the distinction of Honorable Delegate based upon his performance through the course of each session.

The Model United Nations (Model UN) is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and similar UN committees. It was developed in the 1950s as a way to give students hands-on learning in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations. Today, over 400,000 students around the world participate in the program.

Sponsor for the THS Model UN is Michelle Crane, THS Government & Sociology Teacher.
