Haley Rushing and Caroline Prieskorn, THS Students, Earn National Awards During JEA Photography Contest

Texarkana, TX – Haley Rushing and Caroline Prieskorn, Texas High School Commercial Photography students, earned national awards during the Journalism Education Association (JEA) Photography Contest. The event was featured during the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention held in San Antonio, TX.

For their three-picture portfolios, Haley received a Superior Award for Sports Yearbook Photography - one of two awards given in the nation, and Caroline earned an Excellent Award for Sports Newspaper Photography - one of four awards given nationally. An estimated 4,200 students attended the national convention with 233 entering the eight-category photo contest.

    

The Journalism Education Association is the largest scholastic journalism organization that supports free and responsible scholastic journalism. Their efforts provide resources and educational opportunities, promote professionalism, encourage and reward student excellence and teacher achievement, and foster an atmosphere which encompasses diversity yet builds unity.
