Texarkana, TX – Texas Middle School and Dunbar Intermediate Center robotics teams took top ten spots during the recent Regional Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) held on Saturday, December 1 at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Each year, TCEA offer students the opportunity to compete in a prescribed problem contest as well as an open-ended invention contest. Students use marketing, programming, writing, constructing and presentation skills to find a solution for a problem of their choice.
Over 84 teams in from Region VII and Region VIII competed in the event. 27 teams represented Region VIII and 17 teams participated in the Intermediate Arena category - 11 of those hailing from Texas Middle School and Dunbar Intermediate Center.
Taking First Place were the Technomancers of Natalio Castaneda, Micah Collins and Kevin Jacob. Second Place was secured by Robo Nerds members Craig Crawford, Zoe Lovett and Davis Sutton. These two teams have now earned a guaranteed spot in the TCEA State Contest which will be held on April 20 in Houston.
The Blue Bombers team of Bronson Dierksen, Drew Egger, John Powell and Jordan Webb received Sixth Place; and the Dun-Bots team of Traviona Collins, Trenyce Hemphill and Damien Parker earned Tenth Place.
