Morriss Elementary School Robotics Teams Earn Regional Qualifying Table Performance and Core Value Awards
Texarkana, TX – Robotics teams from the Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary School took honors during the recently held First Lego League Robotics Qualifying Tournament at Jesuit Preparatory School in Dallas, TX. The 2012 Senior Solutions Challenge had three components to the contest – the Robot Game, the Project and the Core Values.
With 31 competing teams in the 4th thru 8th grade level, three Morriss Elementary teams qualified to move forward to the Regional Championship which will be held on January 12 at Hockaday School in Dallas, TX. They are: Lego Masterminds - Bryson Harris, Raelyn Ligon, Alex Poole, Kaitlyn Rogers, Ethan Ross, Eli Thomas, Anna Ward and Paden Wright. Coached by Jessica Kline and Tammy Danley; Odd Bots - Conner Allen, Olivia Cross, Taylor Grimm, Shadow Johnson, Anna Grace Jones, Kenzie Wade and Haley Wood. Coached by Tonja Blasé and Tammy Danley; Techno Tigers - Ricky Blair, Noah Crittenden, Bailey Groom, Kara Jefferies, Nicole Kennedy, Sergio Rodriguez, Gabriel West and Julia Whitehorn. Coached by Jessica Kline and Tammy Danley.
Five teams from Morriss Elementary were in the top ten for Table Performance. They were: Brick Masters – 3rd Place - Kamryn Brown, Jair Hernandez, Cade Ingram, Justin LeGrand, Caden Miller, Nathan Morriss, Luke Ogden, Nickey Pappas, Brooke Wright and Mishal Zaman; Techno Tigers – 4th Place; Robo Rescue – 7th Place - Jaden Fretwell, Raven Ivory, Jebin Justin, Molly Kyles, Nathan Morgan and Autumn Parrott; Lego Masterminds – 8th Place; Lego Lightning – 9th Place - Benjamin DePriest, Zane Dodson, Gabriel Lovett, Abby Mapili, Cody Morgan, Aidan Ross, Lucas Smith, Kate Woodard and Jenna Woodard. Tammy Danley served as the Table Coach for all teams.
Overall Project Winner was the Odd Bots team and Lego Masterminds earned the Core Value Award.
