Substitute Teaching
Substitute teaching is flexible part-time employment that can provide you with an income that works with your schedule. Being a Substitute Teacher also provides a much needed service for the students and teachers of Texarkana Independent School District. The goal is to continue classroom instruction in the absence of the teacher.
Substitute Teacher applicants are able to decide what days of the week they want to work, as well as the TISD campuses where they would like to work. TISD utilizes an automated system, AESOP, to secure substitutes for teacher vacancies. AESOP communicates with Substitute Teachers about available assignments by telephone, email and website. Approximately 50% of all assignments are scheduled with at least two (2) days advance notice.
Substitute Teacher Document Portfolio
The TISD Substitute Teacher Document Portfolio includes all documentation that will need to be completed prior to being hired as a Substitute Teacher. We encourage you to review the Substitute Teacher Checklist carefully and make sure that all documents are provided.
