Texarkana, TX — Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary has been named to
the 2025 Texas Honor Roll, a recognition awarded to top-performing public schools across the state for
outstanding student achievement.

The Texas Honor Roll, released annually by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), honors schools for
strong academic outcomes and meaningful student growth across diverse communities. This marks the
eleventh year ERP has conducted the Honor Roll analysis.

Only 1,076 schools statewide, representing approximately 15 percent of all eligible Texas schools, earned
Honor Roll distinction this year. Selections were based on objective student achievement data from the
State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) across the 2023–2025 academic years.

“This recognition highlights the outstanding work taking place daily at Martha and Josh Morriss
Mathematics & Engineering Elementary,” said Dr. Doug Brubaker, Superintendent of Texarkana ISD. “Our
students, educators, and campus leadership continue to show a strong dedication to academic
excellence, innovation, and supporting the success of every student.”

The Honor Roll highlights schools where students are mastering the foundational skills most valued by
employers, including reading, writing, math, and science. ERP noted that Honor Roll schools serve as
models for effective practices that accelerate student learning and close achievement gaps.

“This honor reflects the dedication of our teachers and staff and the hard work of our students,” said
Patti O’Bannon, Principal of Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary. “We are
proud to be recognized and to continue building a learning environment where all students are
supported and successful.

The Texas Honor Roll is presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, in
collaboration with the Texas Business Leadership Council, as part of a national effort to engage business
leaders in recognizing schools that prepare students for success in the workforce and in life. The Honor
Roll is the only school recognition program based solely on objective student achievement data and
presented in partnership with the business community.

Texarkana ISD joins school districts across the state in celebrating this achievement and looks forward to
continuing collaboration and sharing best practices that support student success.
