Senior Cassidy Grant Crowned as Miss Texas High 2023
On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Texas High Senior Cassidy Grant won the Miss Texas High 2023 title. Grant, sponsored by the Texas Highsteppers, competed for this honor with 18 other Texas High young women. She also won the overall interview award and the most photogenic award. Grant won $800 in cash and a $12,000 scholarship to Texas A & M - Texarkana courtesy of the university.
This year’s pageant, sponsored by THS TigerVision and directed by former Miss THS and Miss Texas 2001, Stacy Mayo, featured 19 contestants and Tiger Princesses and Princes from other TISD campuses. The show’s theme was “Come On Barbie, Let’s Go Party” and included four phases of competition. Each contestant had a private interview with the judges before the on-stage competition. The competition's on-stage phases included casual wear, evening gown, and an optional talent
competition.
Along with performances by the contestants and the Tiger Princesses and Princes, Texas High also welcomed Miss Texas 2024, Ellie Breaux, who will represent Texas at Miss America in January. Breaux performed her Miss Texas talent, danced with “The Kens,” and assisted with the awards presentations. The new Miss THS is a Texas Highstepper, and she enjoys painting. Grant also participates in the Leader in Me program.
"When I was called as the winner, I felt pure joy. I was overwhelmed with excitement… I was completely flabbergasted," Grant said. Several other contestants received awards, including the first runner-up, Carrington Grant, who is the new Miss THS’ twin sister. Miss THS said, “During the whole event, not once did I see my twin as competition. A win for me, is a win for her and vice-versa. We are a team.”
