Texarkana ISD Board Announces Vacancy to Be Filled by the Voters
Texarkana, TX—City — During its regular meeting on November 17, the Texarkana Independent School District (TISD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously not to appoint a new trustee to fill the unexpired term of Fred Norton, Jr., who represented District 7 (At Large).
The Texarkana ISD Board of Trustees received numerous highly qualified applications for the seat vacated by Mr. Fred Norton Jr. After careful consideration, the Board has decided that the community should fill this important role. The Board will not appoint anyone to the position at this time and will allow voters to decide who will serve during the May 2, 2026 election.
The May 2, 2026, election will follow all standard procedures outlined for school board elections. Texarkana ISD will provide additional information regarding candidate filing dates and election guidelines at a later date.
