Texarkana ISD Board of Trustees Highlights Student Success and Approves Routine District Items
Texarkana, TX — The Texarkana ISD Board of Trustees met for its March meeting, where routine business items were approved, and student achievements across the district were celebrated.
In official action, the Board approved the monthly financial report, new vendor agreements, and department proposals as part of routine district operations. The Board also approved the 2026–2027 school calendar for the Texarkana ISD Digital Academy of Texas (DATX). The calendar is designed to maximize instructional time for students while providing opportunities for assessment, professional development, and staff instructional planning.
During the Superintendent’s report, Dr. Brubaker recognized outstanding student accomplishments across multiple campuses and programs.
Morriss Elementary Robotics teams were celebrated as they prepare to represent Texarkana ISD on the national and world stage. Girl Greatness 2.0 will compete at the national level, while Mystery Cowboys are advancing to the World competition later this month. Their achievements highlight the impact of creativity, collaboration, and innovation
at an early age.
At the secondary level, the Texas High School Robotics Team was recognized for winning the Texas Region 2 VEX Championship Design award and earning an invitation to compete at the World Championship.
Students across the district also earned top honors in athletics and fine arts. Tiger Golf secured a 1st place team finish at the District Tournament, with Elynn Peek named Individual District Champion. Senior powerlifter Layton Scoggins concluded his season at the state meet with an impressive 1,520 lb total, placing 9th overall. The Texas High School Winter Guard delivered an exceptional performance at the Four States Championships, with Varsity earning 1st place and JV placing 3rd in its first-ever competition. Texas Middle School also celebrated success, as the boys' track team was crowned District Champions at their final meet of the season.
Across every arena—academics, athletics, fine arts, and career and technical education—Texarkana ISD students continue to perform at a high level and represent the district with excellence.
