TISD Board Approves Foundation Grants and Holds Meeting in New CTE Facility

Texarkana, TX—The Texarkana Independent School District Board of Trustees met on January 28, 2026, following a rescheduled meeting pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.0411 due to inclement weather. The meeting was held at the new Texas High School CTE 1 Building, 4001 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, TX 75503.

Texarkana ISD also thanks district staff, community partners, and local volunteers for their diligent work during recent inclement weather. Their efforts to inspect buildings, clear parking lots and sidewalks, and maintain safe conditions ensured the district was prepared for students and staff when it was safe to return. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to our schools and community.

Chief Financial Officer Anita Clay presented the district’s monthly financial report, which provided an overview of the District’s current operating status. The report included budget-to-actual comparisons, tax collection data, state foundation and per capita revenue updates, year-end accruals, and budgetary changes.

Trustees approved the annual tuition rate for students who are ineligible for state funding under the Foundation School Program. The tuition rate for the 2026–2027 school year was set at $6,160 per student in grades Kindergarten through 12, consistent with the rate charged during the 2025–2026 school year. Once established, the tuition rate will remain unchanged for the year.

Additionally, the Board approved the Third Future Schools 1882 Performance Contract and Menu of Services, establishing a partnership in accordance with Texas Education Code Sections 11.174 and 48.252 and Board Policy ELA. The approval followed a district-led review process, with a recommendation from the Superintendent based on established evaluation criteria.

The Board also approved an order calling for regular trustee elections to be held on May 2, 2026, accepted restricted educational grants awarded by the Texarkana ISD Education Foundation to be expended by July 2026, and authorized the final payment to Jackson Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $2,411,473.17 for completion of the Texas High School CTE Additions and Renovations Package 2 project, including final work and retainage. The next regular meeting of the TISD Board of Trustees will be held on February 23, 2026.
