TISD Family Resource Center Receives Kiwanis Club Grant to Support Students and Families in Crisis
Texarkana Independent School District (TISD) is proud to announce that the TISD Family Resource Center has been awarded a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana, made possible through proceeds from the organization’s annual Pancake Day Fundraiser.
This funding will enhance the Family Resource Center’s ability to support students and families facing significant life challenges by providing immediate access to critical services and resources.
“The Kiwanis grant significantly increases our capacity to serve students and families in meaningful ways,” said Rebekah Wagner, Stronger Connections Grant Project Director. “It gives us the flexibility to respond directly and immediately to needs as they arise—whether that’s food, clothing, housing assistance, or other urgent support. This kind of adaptability is critical to helping our families stay strong and our students stay in school.”
Located at 520 Texas Blvd., the TISD Family Resource Center serves as a centralized support hub designed to foster academic achievement and family stability. Services offered include:
● Emergency food and clothing pantry
● Personalized case management
● Housing and utility assistance referrals
● Parenting support and peer groups
● Employment and life skills assistance
● Hygiene and wellness items
The grant will be used to address urgent needs that might otherwise remain unmet, allowing students to remain focused on learning, even during times of personal or family crisis.
This partnership highlights the shared mission of TISD and the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana: to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of circumstance.
